John C. Portman Jr was an American neofuturistic architect (1924-2017). Neufuturist architect, a new one for me. We’ll have to explore that in a future post. He studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Married to Joan Newton they had 6 children. He was the recipient of many awards. Much of his work is in Atlanta. In the early 60s he founded Portman Architects. They created many hotels with their trademark multi storied atria.
