Got to experience the new speed limit on Highway 417. 110km per hour is nice! Of course I’d never experienced it before. Nor yesterday did I experience a kilometer above the new limit. Details here as to where 110km is now allowed.

This month the astronomy will produce a great meteor shower. The meteor shower goes on till August 26 but it will peak August 12 – 13. Alas the moon will be at 94 per cent those evenings – which will render some of the meteors less visible, nevertheless, the brightest ones will be visible. More here.

Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change put forward a motion with regards climate change. It was voted on yesterday and passed 186 to 63. The motion helps recognize the importance of climate change, and shows Canada’s commitment to the Paris Agreement.

In Korea many years ago I used some plastic bags that were biodegrabable, problem was I had partially filled them and by the time I came to use it again, it had started to decompose.

First the floods of 2017, then the tornadoes of 2018. This year the floods followed by the tornado this week-end. Experts warning that we should be ready for more change. The good news for the moment is that flood warning for the Ottawa River are over.
