Stanley Cup Monument
I rather like the design of the new Stanley Cup Monument. Looking at some of the finalists makes me thankful this one was chosen. Great location too! The bear has been relocated 1 block west to Sparks and Metcalfe. I think it’s headed for the Hill!
Skating Rink Parliament Hill Ottawa
One of the last events of the our sesquicentennial will be appropriately enough on Parliament Hill. A skating rink will be open from December 7 to December 31.
Lace em up and have fun! Happy 150 Canada!

Fall Rhapsody
National Capital Commission
Good news bad news. It’s fall; which is the prelude to that other season. But it is also the time of the year mother nature presents us with the most magical explosion of colour.
This year the Fall Rhapsody shuttle introduces a new stop in Lower Town at the ByWard Market: an alternate way to get to the ever-popular stops – Pink Lake, the Mackenzie King Estate, King Mountain, and the Champlain Lookout. With a 20 minute schedule its a great option to explore the colours presented in the Gatineau Park.
As I’ve possibly mentioned before my favourite route is to drive down Bank Street to the Saint Lawrence River. The vistas may not be as grand but I find the colours more varied.
And to me the best colours of fall are in my own neighbourhood – Sandy Hill.
Pumpkinferno
It’s pumpkin time! And we here in Ottawa have options… Saunders Farm is one, and, Pumpkinferno is another. Pumpkinferno in Upper Canada Village features 7000 handcrafted pumpkins specially designed for the Canada 150 sesquicentennial celebrations, it runs until October 29! Road trip!
MosaïCanada 150 – Sesquicentenial Celebrations Canada
I went to see MosaïCanada in Gatineau Sunday, it’s in Jacques-Cartier Park. My first attempt was on Saturday – parking proved to be a chalenge then finding ourselves without coins for the meter: we surrendered. Back on Sunday… I was initially taken aback by the long queue but was told by an attendant the wait would be 20 minutes – it was less than that.
It’s quite amazing to see! Great plant sculptures depicting the history of Canada.
I’m sure the artisans responsible for these beautiful topiaries will have appreciated the weather which surely will have helped in their growth.
There’s so much to take in it could be worth a second visit. Until you do enjoy my pics! I tried to pare it down but well see a couple, a few, or a bunch.
La Machine – The Spirit of the Dragon Horse, The Stolen Wings
I went to see La Machine on Friday and on Sunday. Had to share some of those moments with you. Sad that`s it`s gone! Ottawa should have such shows on a regular basis!
Friday we had a great location next to the Shaw Centre. Ours was a great entire show location to appreciate Kumo`s movements and the massiveness of these machines. The best for a moment location was obviously at the intersection of Colonel Drive and Mackenzie King Bridge where Long Ma and Kumo had an encounter.
Then on Sunday my daughter and I went to the Supreme Court of Canada, got to get a closeup this time of Long Ma while he slept. Then watched it wake up and take off in Kumo’s pursuit towards the War Museum. Do you have any pics.
Did you see any of the encounters or any of the walkabouts? Do you have any pics?

La Machine – Street Closures
This may well be the main event for the Ottawa 150 celebrations. Many streets will be blocked. Car movement will be restricted bicycles even. To be better prepared and in a better state to enjoy the invasion here is the list of road closures.
