Akershus Fortress, Norway
Built in the late 1290s, ghosts of soldiers regularly roam the halls.
Ancient Ram Inn, Wotton-under-Edge, England
Built atop a pagan burial ground this Inn is haunted by over 20 spirits – visitors have at times lept from windows in horror.
Bhangarh Fort, India
This beautiful oasis remains mostly unused subsequent to an unhappy sorcerer placing a curse on the fort.
Boddie State Historic Park, California
This “ghost town” has seen many a spirit miner – mining sounds can even be heard.
Casa Loma, Toronto
Built in the Gothic Revival style in 1914 it has been haunted for years by the Lady in White. Others have felt an unseen hand reach for them, yet others have heard voices.
Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town, South Africa
Built in the 1600s. The cursed Governor van Noodt haunts the fort as the result of a curse by an executed prisoner.
The Cavalier, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Adolph Coors threw himself from a window, it is said he continues to haunt The Cavalier and has even photobombed some wedding photos.
Château de Brissac, Brissac-Quincé, France
Charlotte of France was murdered there. The Green Lady now haunts the castle tower.
Craigdarroch Castle, British Columbia
Built in 1890 the owners haved passed many years ago but a lady still stands in the window waiting for visitors and the piano plays on.
Driskill Hotel, Austin, Texas
This hotel built in the 1886 in the Romanesque style has been known for years to have paranormal activity including the suicidal brides who took their lives 20 years apart.
Edinburg Castle, Scotland
Visitors to this 12th century fortress have reported hearing a piper.
The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Calgary, Alberta
Built in 1888 as a railway hotel a bride-to-be found her demise descending a candle lit staircase. She can still be seen in the ballroom waiting for her husband.
The Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa
Charles Melville Hayes may have died on the Titanic before the Chateau Laurier was completed but that seemingly doesn’t stop him from being angry, slamming doors, and breaking things at the Chateau.
Fort Garry Hotel, Manitoba
Built in 1913 it is one of the most haunted places in Canada. Many a ghost wanders the halls or rattles the silverware. Hasn’t hurt business none!
Hay House, Macon, Georgia
Built in the mid 19th century in the Italian Renaissance Revival Style a spirit lingers on the 3rd floor.
Hotel Berchielli
Here the ghosts are friendly, an old lady knits and boy skips down the hall. They wont bother you at all – but you may feel a breeze now and then.
Hotel Chelsea, New York City
Built in 1884, this bohemian New York landmark is still inhabitated by some of it’s most illustrious guests. They just would not leave!
Hotel del Coronado
Built in 1888 the hotel has hosted many a famous guest but none have remained quite as long as Kate Morgan whose smokey sighting can still be seen.
Kehoe House, Savannah, Georgia
This Queen Anne mansion was completed in 1892, now the sound of children playing has been reported by guests.
Langham Hotel, London, England
In business since 1865 this hotel has been a favourite of many including Oscar Wilde, George Orwell, Mark Twain, and even Napoleon III. They, and their friends regularly meet up in room 333. Request that room if you’re lonely or not if you’d rather a quiet night’s sleep.
Leap Castle, Ireland
Built in the late 13th century. Many a spirit has exited the oubliette includuing The Red Lady.
Merchant`s House Museum, New York
Built in 1832 in Late Federal style with Greek revival interiors. Gertrude Tredwell – whose family occupied the house for 100 years still calls it home.
Myrtles Plantation
This former plantation, built above a Tunica Indian burial ground, now a bed and breakfast is the site of much malaise from the other side. Check in only if you dare.
One if by Land, Two if by Sea, New York City
A popular restaurant where with it’s 20 or so ghosts you’ll never dine alone even at a table for one.
Palacio de Linares, Madrid, Spain
Trap doors, dissapearing staircases as well as the ghost of Don José and his daughter are fixtures of this palace.
Roosevelt Hotel, Hollywood, California
A favourite Hollywood location since 1927. Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift’s spirits continue to reside. Most chilling, literaly, is a spot in the Ballroom where the temperature consistently registers 10 degrees cooler than anywhere near it.
The Russell Hotel, Sydney, Australia
A sailor who stayed as a guest has decided to not leave. His presence can sometimes be seen looming over current guests in room 8. Cozy!
Ruthin Castle, Wales
Here the Grey Lady haunts the premises, the price of murdering the peasant girl having an affair with her husband has meant that rest eludes her for now or forever…
The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado
This hotel in Neo-Georgian style was the inspiration for The Shining. Staff state it’s ghosts are friendly, including the maid in 217 who regularly packs it’s guests clothing.
Tower of London, England
Built in 1070 this former fortress is haunted by none other than Anne Boleyn – albeat a headless Queen.
