The 3 Grotesques
There is so much detail incorporated in the architecture of the Parliament Buildings that without spending hours perusing the exterior of the buildings one can miss some detail, for instance the Grotesques. Glad to read 2016 is time for these guys to shine – literally. This year these 3 chiseled figures are getting a little more attention thanks for the Royal Canadian Mint’s creation of the 3 $25 coins. I was more familiar with the gargoyles now I know 3 new fellows: Grotesque Foliated Green Man, Grotesque Horned Green Man, and Grotesque Wild Green man!
The Tool Libary in City Centre
This is such a great idea: The Tool Library. I didn’t know about it – did you? Use great tools without spending great money. Save space! Be green!
Located in the now trendy City Centre. Isn’t it amazing that the much reviled building suddenly became the IT spot – and it only took 40 years. Read about City Centre here.
Allow a little extra time to pick up your tools and pop into Art is in Bakery for delectable soup, pastries, cookies, and leave with an amazing loaf of bread. Or play a little billiard at the Orange Monkey Bar & Billiards. Of course if I have a say in the itinerary we’ll be stopping by the Architecture Antiques and Found Design. Truly City Centre the place to be and be seen!
NCC introduces the Canada 150 Tulip
I love the Canada 150 Tulip. I look forward to seeing them all over the Capital. They are quite unique. Read more about the NCC’s launch here.
As of September 2016 they will be available for purchase at participating Home Hardware stores.
Ideas to declutter your life
I always love these lists on how to organize your world. Some of the ideas won’t apply to your situation but there’s usually a couple of ideas which can be of use or ideas which will inspire another.
As proposed in suggestion #1 – in a few instances I’ve downloaded the instructions and gotten rid of the paper manual. Could even just keep the link to the instructions or not worry about it until there’s an issue then Google the problem: either the instruction manual will come up or pertinent conversations.
